  • and a bathroom cabinet.

Communal areas and sanitary facilities for 104 rooms (26 per floor)

Residents have access to a number of practical and welcoming communal areas:

  • 4 kitchens equipped with fridges and individual lockers,
  • 1 laundry room with 4 washing machines and 2 tumble dryers,
  • 16 toilets and 16 shower rooms  spread across the floors,
  • 1 study room suitable for individual work or small groups,
  • 1 bar area on the first floor, a place for socialising and relaxing,
  • 1 large terrace, ideal on sunny days for getting together or recharging your batteries.

Kitchens

The Foyer has four communal kitchens, each equipped with hobs, an oven and a microwave. Each resident has their own storage locker and a space in the fridge.
Residents are asked to bring their own crockery.
The use of personal cooking appliances (hotplates, deep fryers, etc.) is not permitted, for safety reasons and to ensure the smooth running of the communal areas.

Laundry

A laundry room is available for residents’ use, equipped with four washing machines and two tumble dryers.
The machines must be booked via a mobile app to ensure fair access and better organisation for everyone.

Animation

The Foyer George Williams regularly organises in-house activities, with the active participation of residents. These events aim to foster a friendly atmosphere, encourage intercultural exchange and help young people build relationships.
Initiatives may also arise directly from residents, in the form of projects or spontaneous events. If you wish to organise a party or a meal, you must notify reception, and you will be able to hold it in the bar on the first floor or on the terrace.
Furthermore, cross-cutting activities may be proposed by the UCGs, with a view to fostering links with other sectors of the association, thereby strengthening the sense of belonging to a wider community.

Visits

Visitors are permitted from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. Each visitor who stay for the night, have to be announced and fulfil a policy form (available in front of the reception). A spare bed could be rent at the reception. (CHF15.-/night)

Absences

Absences of more than a week have to be notify at the reception.

Internet

The Foyer provides free, unlimited Wi-Fi. The password can be obtained from reception.
This network, intended for general use, allows up to two devices per room to be connected.
This is a non-professional connection, which is not suitable for intensive remote working or the use of applications requiring high bandwidth (extended video conferences, large file transfers, …).

Fitness

The residence has a small gym, which is open to all residents.
Membership is included in the rent, at no extra cost.
The gym is equipped with basic equipment for individual training (cardio, strength training, …)

Maintenance of rooms and common premises

Residents are responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of their rooms and must make their own beds.
However, a compulsory weekly clean is carried out by the cleaning staff.
Residents may not refuse the cleaning team’s visit, and cleaning times are displayed on each floor; these must be strictly adhered to.
In addition, bed linen is provided and changed by the UCG.

Warning

It is not allowed to put nails in the walls or drill holes and bring other furniture than those already included in the room (desk, chair, bed, wardrobe).

The Foyer is a place of life and exchange. Consequently, life in community imposes rules on everyone, so that the cohabitation takes place in a pleasant and harmonious way.
We therefore appeal to your sense of responsibility and to your awareness of the respect you must have towards each resident. The simple but essential notions of living in common that we ask you will benefit you for your personal and professional life.

Timetable

We ask you to respect the tranquillity of the Foyer from 10:00 pm to 7:00am in your rooms, corridors and stairs. The reception schedules are large enough to meet your needs. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or requests, or send us an email or contact us via WhatsApp (Inside FGW) The staff is at your disposal to listen to you, to exchange on all the subjects that concern you.

Conflict between residents

You are reasonable people so if a problem is created with a resident you must be open to dialogue at first and if that is not enough you must report it to the persons in charge of the home who will take the appropriate measures.

Smoke

The entire building is non-smoking.

Rooms

An inventory is made at the entrance and exit. In the event of damage or breakage, we will charge you for replacement or repair. We remind you that you have 4 kitchens at your disposal and that it is therefore forbidden to cook in your room. You do not have to wash your laundry in the sink. Residents maintain their room and make their bed themselves.
Once a week, the maids are obliged to clean the rooms and change the sheets every two weeks.

Terrace

On the first floor you have at your disposal a terrace open all the time, where you can rest, eat, study and celebrate.  It is obvious that this privileged place is also under your responsibility to keep it clean and pleasant. After use, make sure to empty your ashtrays, throw away your bottles, clean the tables and store the chairs and, above all, respect the neighbours, paying attention to the sound volume from 22:00.

Recycling

Responsibility also involves raising awareness of our environment. We have an organization for waste sorting: garbage / glass / aluminium / PET / paper and cardboard. Your badge gives you access to the dustbin located next to the car park, on the left when leaving the Foyer.

Communication

We regularly post information on the first floor, in the lifts and on the WhatsApp group. You will be given a welcome booklet on arrival; please take the time to read it, as it contains useful and interesting information.

We are pleased to have you here. We wish you a pleasant stay at the Foyer George Williams.
